Common questions from NYC families
Real answers from our NYC care team.
What does pediatric occupational therapy help with?
Occupational Therapy NYC is now available with in-home services across all Elizabeth neighbourhoods including Downtown, Elmora, Elizabethport, Port Elizabeth, North Elizabeth, and Midtown. Our therapists travel to your home so care happens in a familiar environment, no commute to Newark needed.
What's the difference between OT and PT?
Do you accept NY Medicaid?
New Jersey’s Early Intervention System (NJEIS) provides free speech therapy evaluations and services for children birth to age 3 with developmental delays or communication concerns. Nexus is an approved NJEIS provider in Union County and also offers Occupational Therapy NYC services. Your child’s paediatrician can refer them directly, or contact our team and we will guide you through the full intake process at no cost.
My child is under 3 can they still get OT?
Yes. Under New Jersey state law, most commercial insurance plans and Medicaid managed care plans are required to cover pediatric speech therapy when medically necessary. We verify your specific benefits for free before services begin no surprises for your family.
Do you coordinate with NYC public schools?
Most Elizabeth families complete NJ Medicaid verification and initial scheduling within 5–10 business days of their first inquiry. NJEIS Early Intervention cases move fastest through the state-funded pathway. Contact our care team today and we will begin the process right away.
