Skills for daily life built through play, evidence and patience.
Occupational Therapy Nexus Integrated Care Pediatric occupational therapy helps children develop the physical, sensory, cognitive and social skills they need for everyday activities. For a child, those activities are play, learning, eating, dressing, writing and connecting with peers. When any one of them is harder than it should be, occupational therapy helps.
At Nexus, our licensed occupational therapists at Occupational Therapy Nexus Integrated Care evaluate how your child moves, processes information and engages with their world then design a personalized plan using play-based, evidence-supported methods.

Real answers to the questions we hear from NYC families every week. Don’t see your question? Our coordinators are one call away.
How do I know if my child needs occupational therapy?
If your child has ongoing trouble with handwriting, dressing, sensory reactions, attention or coordination compared with peers, an OT evaluation is the right next step. A licensed OT can confirm in 1–2 visits whether therapy is appropriate.
At what age can children start occupational therapy?
Children can begin OT as early as a few months old when developmental concerns are present. We work with infants, toddlers, school-aged children and teens up to age 18.
How long does pediatric OT take to show results?
Most families notice early changes within 4–8 weeks of consistent therapy. Significant skill gains usually take 3–6 months. Progress depends on the child’s profile, home practice and session frequency.
Is OT covered by insurance in New York?
Yes. Most commercial insurance plans, Medicaid managed care plans and the NY State Early Intervention program cover pediatric OT when medically necessary. We verify benefits for free before any service begins.
What's the difference between OT and physical therapy?
PT focuses on gross motor skills like walking, running and balance. OT focuses on the skills used in daily life fine motor control, sensory regulation, self-care and school participation. Many children benefit from both.
